The mug is the format
The food may be cooked on the hob, in the oven, in an air fryer or prepared from leftovers. What matters is that the finished meal is designed to be served and eaten from the mug.
CCC Original · Meal in a Mug collection
More flavour than a mug should have.
Proper, satisfying food designed around one generous mug, one portion and the way people actually eat when a dining table is not part of the moment.
The idea
Meal in a Mug is not another collection of novelty microwave recipes. A meal may be cooked by any sensible method. The defining idea is that it has been designed to fit, carry, layer and eat well from a mug.
The format brings together portion size, convenience, flavour and texture for the sofa, desk, garden, bedside or anywhere else a plate and dining table are not especially useful.
The food may be cooked on the hob, in the oven, in an air fryer or prepared from leftovers. What matters is that the finished meal is designed to be served and eaten from the mug.
One satisfying serving, easy to carry and easy to eat with a spoon or fork when a dining table is not part of the moment.
Creamy, crisp, rich, sharp, soft and crunchy elements are deliberately combined so the final mouthful is as enjoyable as the first.
Convenience can mean easy portioning, reheating, carrying and washing up. It does not have to mean bland food or microwave cooking.
Mug 1 · Available now
with crispy sage & onion crumb
Familiar British comfort food, built specifically for the mug: creamy mash, sliced pork sausage and thick onion gravy, finished with a crisp sage and onion crumb so every deep spoonful has softness, richness and crunch.
The recipe has been cooked, filled into the 591 ml jumbo mug and eaten as intended. The quantities are the tested version, with enough headroom below the rim to carry and eat comfortably.
Mug 2 · Available now
Rich chilli, fluffy rice, satisfying spoonfuls.
Thick smoky beef chilli, lime rice, Cheddar and a cool sour-cream finish, assembled so the upper rice is roughly mixed with the chilli rather than sitting as a dry cap.
Physical testing showed that the original rice portion made the mug too full. The locked recipe uses 100 g cooked rice, leaving useful headroom for toppings and a clean first spoonful. Chilli flakes stay adjustable to taste.
Mug 3 · Available now
Warm apple. Cold custard. Crisp crumble.
Bramley apple softened into a natural sauce, identifiable Braeburn pieces, cold thick vanilla custard and a separately baked crisp crumble, assembled to bring all three together in repeated spoonfuls.
Prototype #1 passed its physical eating test on 17 August 2026. The tested quantity fills the 591 ml mug generously while keeping safe headroom, and the cold custard is part of the intended experience.
The mug
The unused headroom is intentional. It leaves room for toppings, carrying and deep spoonfuls without pushing the meal awkwardly to the rim.
Why Meal in a Mug works
Meal in a Mug is designed around portion, layers, texture and how the food actually behaves when you eat from a deep vessel. The three launch recipes now show how the same principle works across two savoury meals and one dessert.
Meal in a Mug starts with food you would genuinely want to eat, then makes the mug part of the experience rather than the gimmick.
The tested quantities make one satisfying individual meal while leaving deliberate headroom below the rim for carrying and eating.
Each recipe is assembled so a deep spoonful can pick up several components together instead of forcing you to eat neat horizontal layers one at a time.
Each mug needs contrast as well as comfort: crisp crumb lifts Sausage & Mash, cheese, lime and a cool topping balance Chilli & Rice, and cold custard meets warm apple and crisp crumble in the dessert.
The short address printed on the mug brings you back to CCC for the recipe and the growing Meal in a Mug collection.
